Today on the blog, we're going to be making a delicious bianco, sourdough pizza. I truly love this pizza and if you're one who can't eat tomato products, because of digestive issues, please try this sauce!

Sourdough pizza is one of my favorite quick meals to whip up when I'm in a hurry or want a meal that has sourdough incorporated. When first trying sourdough, know that it does have an acquired taste... something along the lines of "sour" haha (hence the name)! It took me no time to get used to it, because of its amazing benefits.

The longer you keep your sourdough starter, the more resistant it becomes to keeping out the bad bacteria. For example, suppose you have had your starter for 1 year and you leave your sourdough starter in the fridge and forget to feed it for weeks, well, the chances of it going bad is very slim, because of all the good bacteria present.

Sourdough starter also helps break down phytic acid, which is present in grains, helping the body to absorb more nutrients from the grains. Many people can't eat bread, because it's hard on the digestive system, but please try making a sourdough starter and you might find it helps!

Let's get into the recipe...

INGREDIENTS:

Sourdough starter

Grapeseed oil

Italian seasoning

Garlic Powder

Salt + Pepper

White wine

Lots of garlic, peeled

Sharp white cheddar cheese, sliced thin

RECIPE

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Then, heat up 2 cast-iron pans on high heat, then working it to medium once ready to add the contents. Once hot, add a little over 1 tablespoon of grapeseed oil to each pan (try choosing a high-heat cooking oil so the oil won't lose its nutrients when heated). Get the pan evenly coated in the oil. Then, ladle your fed sourdough starter in the pan and smooth it out, making a nice, medium sized layer. Drizzle grapeseed oil on top, then your Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and lastly, salt and pepper (don't forget this step, it's too good to miss)! Turn your heat to medium-low for this step until you see your crust looks almost done.

Remove the pans from heat and transfer to an unused burner, so you can make your bianco sauce. In a blender, pour grapeseed oil (you want more oil than white wine). Then, add your white cooking wine. Next, add 8-10 garlic cloves. This recipe is for the garlic lovers, so if you don't enjoy garlic, this recipe isn't for you. I don't know where I would be without garlic. My mom put it in everything when I was younger and continues to do so and now, I do the same. Then, add the same seasonings added to the crust, but a little less (make sure to ease it on the salt). Add thinly, sliced sharp white cheddar cheese to the blender. Blend until combined. You want a medium-thick consistency! #nowatersauceplease

Spoon sauce to crusts and place thinly, sliced cheese on top.

This is the perfect time where you can add a delicious medley of sauteed veggies, like mushrooms or onions, maybe even an herbed chicken. There are so many tasty choices out there to make your pizza your own!

Place in preheated oven and cook until cheese is melted.

Yes, I was the culprit of the bite mark!

I hope you all enjoy this recipe and it becomes a staple in your kitchen as it has in ours!

God bless

Hannah
